Australia's Jones Act Debate
Praise from Down Under. Even as we hear complaints in our country about our own Jones Act, with calls to abolish it in favor of cheaper foreign labor, according to this weeks Maritime Executive the Aussies are having a debate of their own with some citing that we do it right.
""Why don’t we treat e treat our national shipping industry like the Americans, for example, with the Jones Act?” asks Summers. The ITF has asked the American administration to provide witnesses to come and talk to the Senate inquiry currently underway in Australia about how they treat seafarers as part of their national security program."
